DragonheartIntroduction In this world, known as Gealmeara, there is a king who is just and amiable. He ruled his people with fair and level-headed judgment. This king was no normal king, for he ruled with an honorable and mighty dragon by his side. The king was bonded to this dragon with his heart, mind, and soul in a connection known as Vervasa. The king had an entire guard made up of men and women bonded to dragons through Vervasa. They were known as the Order of Vervasa. These dauntless men, women, and dragons kept peace throughout the land of Gealmeara; quelling disagreements and skirmishes between towns and villages whenever they arose. Dragons and humans were joined through Vervasa when the young man or woman reached the age of 16, and a young dragon was bonded as soon as it hatched. Though, the hatch
DragonheartChapter 1Coming of Age A boy sat impatiently with his mother in a cold, dusty room. The boy’s excitement grew as he waited in the half-light of the torches. He began to tap his foot against the leg of the stool he sat on. The boy was becoming increasingly frustrated because of his impatience. “Mother,” the boy spoke, his words sounding flat in the still air. “How much longer will they take?” The mother gazed at her son with an affectionate expression, and kneeled in front of the boy. “Soon, Roy,” She crooned, kissing her son on his forehead. The mother saw a tuft of the boy’s velvety, dark brown hair sticking out of place. She licked her fingers and was about to smooth the unruly spot of hair down when Roy ducked out of
DragonheartChapter 2Encounter Roy wondered for a moment if his father’s dragon had joined him by the pond just to tell him that bit of advice. The boy shrugged his mood slightly less forlorn. He allowed himself to relax a little bit. Whitefang was right, he would be bonded with a dragon soon enough; it just wasn’t the right time yet.Feeling a bit more elated, the young prince rose from where he sat on the grass, and brushed the dirt and leaves from his trousers. Roy navigated the castle gardens to the stables. He thought that perhaps a ride outside the castle walls would do him some good. Roy chose a chestnut mare with a white stripe that ran down her face and ended in a small snip at the tip of her gray muzzle. He hastily tacked up the mare, eager to be off. He packed a bag with some bread, and grabbed his bow and tied his hunting dagger to his belt. Roy told one of the grooms that he planned to go for a ride and to inform the

Caelum (Prologue) An old man walked alone through a desert. The sun was at its zenith; baking the dry, dead land. As the old man journeyed alone, no animals or insects showed themselves. This desert was a desolate and lifeless place where only the wind howled. The old man approached a megalithic temple that stood by itself in the lifeless landscape. The old man entered the temple and found his way to the altar of the god that it was dedicated to. The statue behind the altar depicted a powerful, muscular man with an omnipotent dragon wrapped around him. The old man kneeled down and began to pray. “Harek, Lord of the Skies, hear my plea,” he rasped. “This desert is both a thief and a glutton. Each life it takes is not replenished. After the last storm, few of my people remain. I beg of you Harek, find my people a new home; somewhere where they need not fear the desert. This is my dying wish. Take my li
Blood Red (Prologue) A dragoness flew desperately through the night, her wings clawed for speed in the dead air. She clutched a small bundle to her chest as she was fleeing whatever danger there was behind her. The dragoness landed awkwardly in front of a secluded cave, keeping her bundle to her with one arm, and using the other walk. As she hobbled around the cave, the dragoness scented the air for any other creatures. The only scents she found were of growing plants and mountain goats. She pushed her way the back of the cave, gathering twigs and stones as she went. The dragoness made a nest of the materials and placed her bundle in the middle. Wrapped in the cloth was a dragonet that was just hours old. It blinked its blood red eyes sleepily at its mother and then its tiny jaws parted in a yawn. The dragonet squawked at its mother and then curled up, ready
